EPSY 220: Career Theory and Practice

EPSY 220: Career Theories and Practice prepares students for the rest of their careers through: discussion, reflection, and self-assessment; career exploration and preparation for job applications; examination of scientific theories explaining career choices; exploration of interests and values using psychological assessment tools; learning about diversity in the workplace; development of essential career skills such as writing résumés, crafting cover letters, and interviewing for jobs; and conducting an informational interview with a professional or advanced student to gain insight into a chosen field. EPSY 220 fulfills a General Education requirement for Behavioral Sciences. It runs through the full Spring 2025 semester from January 21 through May 7, 2025 and features mostly reflection-based and experiential assignments, NOT exams. Although EPSY 220 is designed to be useful for all undergraduate students, it is particularly well-suited for students who have not yet chosen a major, students who are uncertain about their plans after graduation, and students who want to build career-related skills. For more information, contact Nic at heimpel2@illinois.edu.
