We are looking to hire at least one person this summer into a full-time design research position, working within our Landscape Infrastructure Design Lab (https://cadc.auburn.edu/landscape-infrastructure-design-lab/). They’ll work with a team here that includes three other full-time staff, myself, and graduate research assistants.
The position would be a good fit for someone who is a recent graduate (~0-3 years experience), has strong design/representation skills, and is interested in doing work that is both more experimental and at larger scales than typical firm work.
This position is funded to work across the full range of projects we have in LIDL, but they’ll focus in particular on our largest and newest project, the Natural Infrastructure Innovation Project, which is sponsored by Engineering With Nature. It’s a five-year partnership between Auburn, UVA, and Penn that will be conducting design research into what forms of natural infrastructure are possible in the nation’s bays and estuaries, which forms are most desirable, and how to increase innovation in natural infrastructure design. There will be a lot of fieldwork, a lot of mapping and design, and a big focus on expanding the use of hydrodynamic models, both physical and computational, that Dredge Research Collaborative folks have been experimenting with for the last few years.
