SWA 2024 Summer Student Program: Houston, Texas

For many decades, SWA has hosted an annual summer student program to explore critical issues on contemporary landscape architecture, planning, and urban design. This year, the program will gather a select group of students in our Houston studio to explore topics related to making Downtown Houston more resilient to heat issues while enlivening the public realm. Students from across the country will work alongside professional designers and community stakeholders to develop an actionable plan for the Houston Downtown Management District that weaves together open space improvements, climate adaptation strategies, and social infrastructure.

We invite full-time upper level undergraduate and graduate students in landscape architecture, planning, and urban design to apply. Applicants must be returning to their academic program in the 2024/25 school year (graduated students are ineligible). Selected applicants will participate in this 8-week design and research project in our Houston office, learning from our professional staff and engaging with the Houston design community. The Summer Student Program includes a stipend and housing.

Application deadline: March 1, 2024.
