Two NRES experiential courses in Fall 2024

STUDENT iCAP

NRES 285 section CAP, CRN 56367, 2 hours

Meets Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:00-2:50pm

Description: The goal of this course is to engage students in the development of a climate action plan specific to the University of Illinois. Students will take their plan and integrate feasible ideas into the Illinois Climate Action Plan (iCAP) 2025 and assist in the presentation of that iCAP. 

 

SUSTAINABILITY POLICY

NRES 285 section SPF, CRN 68858, 2 hours

Meets Tuesdays 2:00-4:50pm

Description: In this course, students will be introduced to the importance of sustainability in the public policymaking process with emphasis on the local government level. Students will visit four local municipalities in person and four or five municipalities virtually to study and evaluate various conceptual models and practices in sustainability public policy formulation. This course will meet in N-120 Turner Hall for the first class meeting. Aside from the in-person field trips, all other class meetings will occur online. The full class time will be needed for two field trips; otherwise, class will typically last 90 minutes. This section will have a field trip fee of $14.
